The Secrets a Sultry, Sexy Voice Reveals

Your voice appeal may equal your sex appeal. People with those sultry, sexy voices are more likely to be sexually adventurous--and unfaithful.

According to a study by the University of Albany in New York, men and women who have attractive, sexy voices also had sex at an earlier age, have had more sexual partners, and are more prone to infidelity, reports the BBC News Online.

The startling conclusion: A sexy voice can be correlated with promiscuity in both men and women.

"When the phone rings, even though you may not know the person at the other end of the line, as soon as they speak you usually know whether you are talking to a male or female, and a child or adult," psychologist and study co-author Gordon Gallup told the BBC. "In other words, the sound of a person's voice conveys information about the biological status of the speaker. Our research shows that voice might be a medium that also conveys subtle information about sexual behavior and body configuration."

Voice and Sex
In this study, 149 male and female volunteers listened to a series of recorded voices and then rated each for attractiveness. The voices that were found to be the most appealing belonged to those people who were especially sexually active. They all had sex at a young age, had multiple partners, and were more likely to be unfaithful to their significant other.

Voice and Body
In addition to a link between the voice and sexual activity, the University of Albany team found there was also a connection between the attractiveness of a person's voice and his or her body shape. The men who had the sexiest voices were also the men who had broad shoulders and narrow hips, features that are related to testosterone and growth. Women who had the most attractive voices also had the ideal feminine figure with a narrow waist and broad hips.

And here's something interesting: The people whose voices were rated most attractive tended to have little fingers that measured the same length on both hands.
